The World Day of Prayer is a global movement led by Christian women who welcome you to join in prayer and action for peace and justice. It is run under the motto “Informed Prayer and Prayerful Action,” and is celebrated annually in over 170 countries on the first Friday in March. The movement aims to bring together people of various races, cultures and traditions in a yearly common Day of Prayer, as well as in closer fellowship, understanding and action throughout the year. The program for each year’s service is prepared by women from one focus country of the world.

Prayer for Zimbabwe

This year our service has been written by Christian women in Zimbabwe. Joining together from different Christian traditions, they have produced a service that congregations large and small in over 170 countries will pray together to God. In tiny towns and huge cities, cathedrals and small worship centres, coffee shops, halls, retirement villages, homes, hostels and churches, women and men of many faith traditions will gather on or near Friday 6 March 2020 to pray for Zimbabwe and the needs its women have expressed.

Ivanhoe Baptist Church will host this year’s service on behalf of the Ivanhoe Churches. It will be held in the church chapel and will be followed by refreshments served in the Church Hall.

An offering will be received during the service to assist the Bible Society of Zimbabwe in their program of Empowering Mothers of Children with a Disability.

All are welcome and encouraged to attend.
